Summer Fun

Summer fun time ... even though we're in the Southern hemisphere and it's supposed to be winter. But it's been 25-29ÂșC this week!! Weather is going crazy - I'm off to the beach!

I'm not going with the Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, but the wonderful new SSS bikini die cut with purple gingham pattern paper! Either way, hope you have sunshine and a wonderful weekend.

It is such a joy to play with Distress Oxides! Especially on coloured cardstock.

CASology #258 : Diamond

Another week flies by and it's time for the CASology challenge. Are you ready to sparkle? Or be geometric? The cue word is DIAMOND.

I decided to go with the shape, not the rock!

If you need some more ideas, pop on over to see the design team cards ...

Pretty in Pink

I love soft pinks with green so the Color Throwdown Challenge #451 is a perfect match.

Sunflower Sunshine

Time for inking up a NBUS (Never Before Used Stamped) and sending some sunflower sunshine to my friend. I grabbed this stamp set on the Club Scrap Sale and it arrived while I was away.

CASology #257 : Wish

What is it about dandelions that make them so magical that we can make wishes with them?! So light, dreamy and enchanting.

We all wish for things ... and send good wishes to others, so come and enter this week's CASology Challenge : Wish

CASology #256 : Pizza

This has been a challenge indeed ... besides not having any pizza stamps, there were no ideas flowing. I took the sentiment from SideSandwich on Etsy and typed it up adding some pizza clipart.

Pizza is one of my favourite foods, but since having to avoid wheat, it has been a challenge to find a good one! Anyone out there have a good wheat-free recipe?

[I apologise for the photo - it looks fine on my camera, photos and preview file, but as soon as I upload it, it goes out of focus.]

Come on over to CASology and join in the Pizza Challenge.

June CCC

It's been a while since I played in the Card Chain Challenge. They have their own blog now and I'm so happy that Deborah, Gail and Jo have kept it going.

My card went to Jerrie in Wisconsin.

Thought it would be a good idea to have the envelope match.

Playing with another new stencil from Celebra8 - the Grunge background which makes a great frame.

This is my entry for the Fusion Challenge - The Sketch only.

Romantic Rose

This is my first card since returning from my trip. Good to get back into my studio and play with ink, stamps ... and a new stencil. The stencil is from a South African company called Celebr8 - a lovely new find!

I was inspired by the The Card Concept challenge : Romantic Roses, but I only wanted a single one.

Back home

I have just flown home from a 4 week trip to South Africa. A big part of the trip was being with my mother, who is now 81, and helping her with her health, home and finances. It is difficult living so far away from ageing parents. She still loves her small garden, and has lots of birds popping in for her seeds.

This is the Mandiba Strelitzia (named after Nelson Mandela). The common name is Bird of Paradise.

While I was out in the garden, this lovely, and quite large, butterfly kept me company.

One of the things I sorted through was my mother's wool stash ... found some lovely Mexican Wave and finished a blanket/throw. Made it in Tunisian Entrelac stitch. The Lavender & turquoise one has been brought home to finish.

I did have a short trip to Cape Town ... oh how glorious it is. I was lucky to have blue skies and left before the BIG winter storm hit.

Sorry I have been MIA, but I'll be posting my cards again soon ... need to unpack and get settled.

CASology #254 : House

It's so exciting when you see your children (and friend's children) grow up and make their way in the world. Buying your first house is one of life's momentous occasions, and I made this card for my friend's daughter & SIL who have just moved in to their new home.

I doodled the sun rays and coloured with Prismacolor.

This was perfect timing for the CASology Challenge : House.

Come and join in the challenge, but first pop on over and see the cards created by the CASology Design team.

CASology #253 : Clothes

I was so tempted to make a tiny tag with a babygro for this week's CASology challenge : Clothes as I have two friends about to become grandmothers for the first time. But I do have the sweetest dress from our sponsor, Stamplorations, and who can resist a party!

I used a small piece of black string to create a place to hang the dress. I doodled the stars and dots, added some Wink of Stella and mounted with coloured foam. Trying to catch the delicate shimmer of Wink of Stella is not easy.

Our design team members have come up with some wonderful cards ... come and see their inspiration.

CASology #252 : Insect

The CASology cue word this week is Insect and you can't go wrong with butterflies! I love this bold butterfly as one of the trio from Penny Black.

Our design team members have been playing with creepy crawlies ... and flutterbies too.
